Hey, it’s June (almost). How about a ride on 6/21 - Saturday –the riding weather should be great. We’ll leave QT in Calera (NWC) on 65/31 at about 10:30 after a short rider meeting – I’ll be parked outside. OK, this is a two-part ride – the first part is to the Confederate Memorial Park outside of Clanton – they have limited parking, but we’ll make it work. To get into the museum, the cost is $4.00, or $3.00 if you’re a Veteran or over 65, or $2.00 if there are 10 of us. So, we’ll spend about 30 minutes in the museum and then head for lunch. We’re going to Rock’s Famous BBQ in Prattville – if you haven’t been there before, this is a real treat! If you’re going, then please review their menu online as it’s extensive. Part I ends after lunch. The total miles for Part I is about 60 miles.
Part two starts after lunch – we’re going to ride south from the restaurant to the outskirts of Montgomery on US Hwy 31, which turns into 80 – right turn on Woodley Rd. This will take us through rural areas, and we will cross over Seven Bridges (actually 14 bridges now) – if you’ve ever heard the song of the same name by the Eagles, recorded in 1980, this road was the inspiration for the original song written by Steve Young in 1969. It’s a great relaxing country road that winds around to 231/80 and back to I-65. It’s about 20 miles south of the restaurant, and the loop is about 70 miles – initially, I am thinking about two stops on this part – details to come.
If you don’t want to do Part I, you can meet us at the restaurant for Part II, but be advised that we’re leaving when everyone is done with lunch – we’re not waiting. This ride (both parts) has a Johanna scenic rating of 8, and I didn’t even begin to count the RR crossings. This is what it’s all about – ride to eat and eat to ride – I mean ride and have fun!! Hope to see you there and remember it’s always more fun when you’re there!!

As always, remember full tank – empty bladder. Please RSVP on Hog Scan or text me if you plan to attend so I can warn the restaurant. 😊. Remember, let’s ride and have fun!!
