Random Road / New Road Captain Practice Ride Saturday 4/26 – Departs HOD

Event date: Saturday, 04/26/2025 - 10:00am

Destination: Random Roads with Break/Lunch stop

Ride Plan: The ride route and plan are to ride to Golden Rule in Irondale and back to HOD with approximately 2 hours of riding time and a break at Buc-ee’s and a lunch stop.

We will start by leaving the dealership and turning onto Highway 119, heading toward Highway 280. At Grants Mill Road, we will turn left. Continue on Grants Mill Road until we reach the first stop sign. At the stop sign, turn right onto Rex Lake Road.

We'll pass Barber Motorsports Park on this stretch. Our first stop will be Buc-ee’s, where anyone can use the restroom or fuel up. This will be a short stop, no more than 10 minutes.

After Buc-ee’s, we’ll head into Leeds via Highway 78. When we get to the traffic light near Leeds Elementary School, we will turn left onto Ashville Road (also known as Highway 411).

We will stay on Ashville Road for a while, crossing over the interstate. Just before Popeyes, we will turn left onto Markeeta Spur Road. After a short drive, we’ll turn left onto White Chapel Parkway.

White Chapel Parkway will eventually become Roper Road at a stop sign. Go straight through the stop sign and veer left shortly after onto Floyd Bradford Road. We will follow this road until it takes us back to Highway 78.

At Highway 78, we will turn right, heading into Irondale. Our next stop will be at Golden Rule BBQ, which is just before the intersection of Highway 78 and Grants Mill Road.

Return Route Back to the Heart of Dixie:

After our lunch break at Golden Rule BBQ, we will turn left from Highway 78 onto Grants Mill Road.

This time, we’ll continue on Grants Mill Road until we reach the stop sign in the middle of the road. There, we’ll turn right onto Sicard Hollow Road.

Stay on Sicard Hollow Road until it becomes Blue Lake Drive / Colonnade Parkway. Follow Colonnade Parkway until it ends and becomes Acton Road.

From Acton Road, turn left onto Caldwell Mill Road / Camp Horner Road. (This is the easier intersection to navigate.) Stay on Caldwell Mill, cross over Valleydale Road, and then turn right at the top of the hill onto Indian Crest Drive.

We’ll follow Indian Crest Drive to Arrow Head Ln and then to  Highway 119, and from there, we are just a few miles away from returning to the Heart of Dixie.
