Alabama National Cemetery Flag setup Ride Saturday 5/24 – Departs HOD
Event date: Saturday, 05/24/2025 - 8:00 am
Destination: HOD to Alabama National Cemetery and then back to HOD
Ride Information: This ride departs from HoD. The rider's meeting will be at 7:45 AM. KSU will follow at or before 8:00 AM. This is a ride set to help out at the Cemetery by placing flags on the graves of our wonderful service man and women.
Ride Theme: A fun and enjoyable ride / public service
Ride Plan: The ride route and plan are to ride to the Alabama National Cemetery and back to HOD with approximately 2.5 hours of riding time and a break at the Citgo on the corner of Hwy 17 and Hwy 22(on the ride back).
We will start by leaving the dealership and turning onto Highway 119, heading toward Highway 31. At Hwy 31 we will turn Right. Continue on to 261/Helena Rd.
We will take a Left onto Hwy 17 and ride all the way down to Hwy 22 and take a left.
While on Hwy 22 we will ride towards Hwy 119 south, officially coming into Montevallo. When we reach 119, we will take a left, and the Cemetery will be on our Right.
This is a time-dependent part of the ride, and if we do not make it by 8:45 am, then we will default to riding down I-65 South to the Shelby County Airport Exit, Exit 234. We will exit to the Left and ride down to Hwy 22 and take a Right , traveling down to Hwy 119, where we will take a Left , and the Cemetery is on our Right.
We will help out as long as needed, and then we can take off and head back to the dealership. I suggest we bring snacks and maybe a little more, as I don’t know how long we will be there at the Cemetery. Rob should be there with a cooler full of water for us, too, as he lives really close by.
Return Route Back to the Heart of Dixie:
We will leave ANC and travel into Montevallo and take a Right onto Hwy 25.
We will stay on Hwy 25, and go past the railroad tie production place and Hwy 139, where we will take a Right onto Bibb County rd 10.
Bibb County Road 10 is a fun and interesting road used by logging companies in the area. Thankfully, they don’t work on weekends or near holidays.
CR-10 will continue straight, but we will take a Left turn onto Hwy 22 heading back towards Hwy 119 through Pea Ridge, Alabama. The plan is to take Hwy 17 back to 261/Helena Rd and then to the dealership on the same roads we came down on.
